Hublese Harmony
This style originates from the Hub network in 2010 (later in 2014 rebranded as Discovery Kids).
Hublese Harmony is an optimistic and vibrant style. Emphasizing fun and imagination, with themes of friendship and lighthearted adventures.
Logos feature bright colors, smooth rounded designs, and clean glossy chrome looks with vibrant colors. Sometimes mixing elements of Frutiger Aero as seen in many Hub logo bumper images, and sometimes even mixing in Dark Aero or Frutiger Metro elements.
As you’ll see many shows on the Hub network followed this unique style. Featuring characters that have a flat but detailed design based in vector graphics, with bold outlines. The backgrounds and environments are often more detailed in contrast with the characters, who usually have more simplified detailing/shading. This style often gives a very similar vibe to older cartoons that had painted backgrounds.
My Little Pony (G4) is often one of the first shows many think of that features this style.
Notice how the characters themselves usually have very simple detailing when compared to the environment. They don’t even have shadows aside from a simple circle on the ground.
They rarely have anything like gradients or fine detailing. This is obviously not a hard rule, there are some characters who do have more intricate details on themselves or their clothing.
Pound Puppies is another show that also has a strong connection to this art style.
Take note how even when the colors are more on the dull side the scene still feels vibrant.
Notice how even in a dark underground place the scene still feels bright.
It's almost as if full bright was enabled in a 3D scene.
Hublese Grunge
One show that is more on the grunge side would be Dan VS.
Even though the style is more on that grunge side it still maintains the design aspects.
Extra - Hublese Harmony in Games
A good example for Hubless Harmony in games would actually be Fortnite. Surprisingly Fortnite at times has many instances of the Hubless Harmony style.
