As you may or may not know I am quite the creepypasta enthusiast, and 2 of my favorite creepypastas are actually based in animal crossing. This being one of them.
Written by Chewbot in December 2007 on the Something Awful forums this creepypasta makes for a more interesting story than most monster based pasta you usually see.
The story is about an 8-year-old boy named Billy who was sent to what he had believed to be a normal summer camp, however he soon realizes he is trapped in this strange town full of animal people.
I really enjoy the twists and mysteries that unfold throughout Billy's adventures.
One of my few complaints however is that at the very beginning it's presented as if this story will be told from the perspective of a player playing a weird or hacked version of the game, but then immediately changes to the in game character's perspective.
I find this sudden shift in perspective jarring, I feel that the whole intro could’ve been omitted entirely as the real life player never brought up again.
Another complaint I have is the protagonist is supposed to be 8, but throughout the story they act more like an edgy 16 year old.
So there is a bit of an inconsistency with the character’s personality.
But regardless of the strange intro to the story I rate this pasta fairly highly.
I don’t want to go into too much detail of what happens throughout the story, seeing the mysteries unravel for yourself is part of the fun.
You can read an archive of The Terrible Secret of Animal Crossing on lparchive.org or search on YouTube as there are plenty of readings for this creepypasta.
This creepypasta is the other animal crossing pasta I mentioned before.
In this story the protagonist discovers the animal crossing series, and becomes a big fan after initially dismissing the games.

The protagonist eventually meets a mysterious individual through New Leaf’s online multiplayer by the name of Eric.
Eric seems like a normal player at first, but as time goes on things turn creepy as Eric starts sending strange letters.
This eventually leads to the protagonist receiving letters from Eric in real life mail.
I won’t be spoiling any major story elements here, and like before you can read it on https://someordinarygamers.fandom.com/wiki/Eric or look up readings on YouTube.
I don’t know if I'd rate this one higher or lower than The Terrible Secret of Animal Crossing.
But I do know I’ve enjoyed both equally as much.
