I've been thinking about the Archie Sonic comic recently.
I used to be a frequent reader when the series was still around.
It was almost like finally getting to see what season 3 of satAM would be like.
Seeing all the different characters, adventures, locations, and stories was a lot of fun!
That's something I had always enjoyed most in Sonic exploring the world and stories of the characters who lived there.
It's probably why I like adventure 1 and 2 so much, not only because the gameplay is good but because they have great stories and cool places to explore.
It's strange how after the adventure era (it even sorta started with adventure) Sonic didn't really have a consistent world anymore.
Anyway the comics were awesome, and I need to read them again.
I always really liked (mostly) the comic art too, lots of highly detailed panels really visually conveyed the vibe of each scene.
The large amount of characters, and personally variation was also a big positive for me.
Each character felt so unique, from Sally with her strong leadership, to Antoine's progression from cowardly to brave.
It all felt so epic!
You might think someone who is such a Sonic fan would be quick to start reading the IDW version.
Well you'd be somewhat right, at first I was very enthusiastic about it.
But I had a realization then, if Sega was so quick to drop the Archie story leaving it incomplete even though it was only like 3 book away from the end.
Then what's stopping them from doing it again with IDW?
Nothing really, I then started thinking about everything else they left behind unfinished.
Even newer characters who seemed to be perminant additions to the main series such as Blaze and Sticks were discarded.
I then realized that everything IDW likely will have the same fate as all their other "spin off" projects.
So because of that I quickly lost interest.
Some new characters (Tangle and Whisper) have appeared in some games, these games are ether mobile or spin offs only.
But unless they start appearing consistently in the main series games I think they too will eventually be discarded.
Although I don't want it to be that way, given Sega's history I don't think any of the comics content will make it very far outside of the comics.
The spin off games are probably as far as they will go unfortunately.
Anyway, remember Scratch and Grounder? What about Slate and Dingo?
What characters/series do you remember fondly?
Side note my dream Sonic game would basically be an Animal Crossing like, open world exploration game.
Maybe some RPG and farming elements like in Stardew Valley, but in 3d. -End

I do miss the old internet experience at times.
One thing I especially miss were the themed websites.
Old Bionicle is a great example of this, having flash animations, minigames, bits of story.
On a similar note something else that I enjoyed was seeing all the different ways the ui elements were stylized to maintain the page's theme.
I personally feel too many web developers (even back then) get caught up in the idea of simplicity over design.
They're right that simplicity makes it easier to use, but the charm and personality is lost as a result.
Sure not every website needs to be a work of art, many webpages are just for utility purposes, but for the ones that aren't just utility adding a little bit of visual interest can make it more memorable.
Regarding what I was writing in my last post (you can read it its right down there) I also feel similar about the old furniture.
This is definitely for the most part nostalgia goggles, the new furniture is far more detailed and interactive than it was in the old games.
However the part that isn't nostalgia goggles is the slow shift across each game to more normal/realistic furniture.
I prefer the more cartoony/whimsical style lots of the older games had with their furniture sets.
NH didn't even have Froggy Chair initially.
I think we should have both realistic and cartoony items so that players can decorate the way they like.
I don't like how the realistic styles are taking over, and there's less cartoon styles because of that. -End

Lately I've been wanting to redesign my New Horizon (NH) island lately.
I'm also thinking of starting my own Animal Crossing blog documenting the island's evolution.
Speaking of Animal Crossing I find it a bit odd how gen 1 had the best gyroids.
Sure NH has no limit to how many can be active at once, but gen 1 I feel had more interesting designs than the bubbley style the new ones have now.
I also prefer the gyroid sounds prior to the NH versions. -End

Today is the Five Nights at Freddy's 11 year anniversary.
I still remember the first time I watched Markiplier play FNAF on the YouTube 3DS app
Playing as the night guard was (still is) such a unique gameplay experience.
It was really cool being there since the beginning, seeing the franchise evolve from a small indie game to a major series with its own movies.
Anyway my dearest Melpert who is your favorite animatronic?
I'd say mine has always been Chica, especially the glamrock and rockstar versions.
But as of late I've taken a liking to Dollie. -End

I recently started going through my 3DS looking for old screenshots.
But in doing so, I realized there's some potential lost media that could become more and more lost every day.
What I'm referring to are the game demos.
Now with the eShop gone, new ones can't be downloaded.
This is a problem because for some reason on the 3DS, demos have a limited amount of times you can play them.
Once the maximum number of times the demo can be played is reached, it becomes unusable.
I don't know if there are any fan projects that were able to archive any of these demos, but it seems like something that would be in danger of becoming lost media over time.
Another potential piece of 3DS lost media would be the themes, badges from the badge arcade, and promotional videos from either the eShop or the special distribution networks like Spot Pass.

I find it interesting how people still discuss, and theorize about old games more than new ones.
What made me think of this is Animal Crossing (GC).
I was watching a video about theories on the identity of 2 characters shown on a wanted poster.
Such a small detail used to fill in the background of the police station in a 22 year old game.
Yet after all this time many (including myself) find these old mysteries intriguing.
This made me realize that in many cases old games often had more personality put into them, and it's not simply rose tinted nostalgia glasses.
What really confirmed this for me is when I played old games for the first time that I had no nostalgia for.
Inspite of not having nostalgia for any particular game, I found myself enjoying older titles from the 1990-2012 era more than most sterlalized corporate modern titles.

First post here.
Testing out the api, it seems a bit clunky.
Other than that the convenience is pretty good.
The good thing is with that I can update (some) pages more often.
